The PSO in its 46 years continues to uphold the ideals of leadership and excellence in the field of oncology by continually updating its members and the lay with the knowledge of advances and breakthroughs in cancer management – its very own “crab mentality”.
Convening for the 10th time, PSO has high hopes of saving more Filipino lives by addressing the four aspects of cancer control: prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care in this continuing medical education series.

In the promotion of health, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients, a holistic, multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach shall be utilized encompassing medical nutritional, psychosocial, economic and research aspects, in order to elevate the health status of all Filipinos by diminishing the incidence, morbidity and mortality of malignant neoplasms.
The PSO was founded in 1964 with the mission statement that it was to be "a medical professional organization devoted to the integration of various disciplines in the study and treatment of cancer, promote better understanding of cancer control, stimulate and attain a level of specialized knowledge and skill in both theory and practice applicable to better patient care."
